SUPPORT GROUPS

In addition to offering Individual, couple, and family therapy, there are opportunities to find support in a group setting. There are several reasons why a Support Group may be a good option for you:

  • You can meet others with the same condition or circumstance.
  • You can learn more about your condition or circumstance.
  • You can learn more treatment options and coping strategies.
  • You can benefit from a more social experience.

The following Support Groups are offered:

  • DivorceCare
  • GriefShare
  • GriefShare for kids called SHIFT*

DIVORCE CARE

Divorce Care is a seminar/support group designed to minister to people hurting because of separation or divorce.

Each week group members watch a video related to an aspect of separation or divorce. Following the video, group members discuss what they’ve just seen on the video and what’s going on in their lives, receiving support from the group leader and group members.

Groups are facilitated by church members who have experienced healing from divorce and meet for 13 weeks in the fall beginning in August and in the spring beginning in January. New participants are encouraged to join the group at any time during the semester. Participant guides, which include a daily Bible study, are available for purchase for $10.

GRIEFSHARE

Losing a spouse, child, family member or friend is one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare is Broadmoor Baptist Church's grief support group which consists of friendly, caring people who will walk alongside you, understand what you are going through, and want to help you recover from your loss and start rebuilding your life.

You are welcome to begin attending GriefShare at any time. This grief support group is designed to have “self-contained” sessions so you are not required to attend them in sequence. Whatever day you begin in the GriefShare cycle, you will find encouragement and help. If you miss a session, or begin after a cycle has begun, you may continue through the next cycle to view any of the videos you have not seen.

Group meets two cycles annually; each cycle runs for 13 weeks.  For more information on when the next cycle begins or if you have any other questions regarding this grief support group, please call 318-868-6554.

SHIFT

SHIFT is a 13-week program with age-appropriate lessons and activities to help children and adolescents explore their grief and God's promises regarding comfort, healing, hope, and eternity. When the "shifts" of life occur, the aftermath is unpredictable and rarely stable. Our hope for children dealing with the loss of a loved one is that as they process the shift they've undergone, they will be equipped with the necessary tools needed to build a solid foundation of faith and hope. For more information, or to register your child, please call 868-6554.

STORIES FROM THE WELL

Stories from the Well is a multi-generational ministry for women from young adulthood through senior adulthood. It's a safe place to get real about the struggles women face and learn how extraordinary women of the Bible faced their struggles. They meet Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:15 pm in room 2710 from September 4 - November 20, 2024. A spring session will also be offered, so be on the lookout for those dates. Corresponding activities for children are available through the MOOR Kids (preschool) and MOOR Students (6th - 8th grade) ministries.
